Thursday Night Football Betting Primer Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Jets (-2.5 | O/U: 36.5)

Game Preview:

This is a crucial game for both teams’ playoff chances, and perhaps the most compelling Thursday Night matchup of the season. 

The contrast between these two teams is stark. Jacksonville has won three of their last four, and in doing so have usurped the Tennessee Titans as the AFC South favorites. They have assuredly found their QB of the future in Trevor Lawrence, and look to claim only their third playoff appearance since 2007. 

It’s a different story for the Jets, as the team has lost four of their last five, and since dropped out of the AFC playoff picture. To the fans’ disdain, second-year pro Zach Wilson has been forced back into action, and his middling play is a chief reason why the Jets don’t have more wins on the year. Still, the Jets have a reasonable chance at making the postseason with a win tonight, and should be able to rely on their elite defense in this matchup. 

New York’s defense ranks third in the NFL per Football Outsiders’ Weighted DVOA, and is the reason the team has been so competitive. The New Jersey weather will only heighten the defense’s edge at home, and such a forecast may negate the Jags’ clear advantage offensively.
